— CUMBERLAND — George McKinley Welsh, 81, of Cumberland, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 20, 1931, in Bedford, Pa., he was the son of the late Milton and Anna (Keifer) Welsh. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Lenny, Leonard, Freeman, Jim and Bob; and two sisters, Dorothy George and Evelyn Gray.

Mr. Welsh was a labor foreman for the AFLCIO and mainly supervised the building of bridges and tunnels. He was a life member of the Goodfellowship Club and Kennell Mills Sportsmen Club. He was Protestant by faith.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hamilton Welsh, Cumberland; four daughters, Terry Muller, Sherry Thompson and Cindy Cosner all of Hagerstown, and Georgie Ann Welsh of Florida; one step-daughter, Candy Netzer, Cumberland; one step-son, Chuck Calhoun, Cumberland; two sisters, Freda Long,Cumberland and Betty Ridgley and husband Lee, Cumberland; one brother, Kenneth Welsh and wife Carley, Wellersburg, Pa.; six grandchildren, Gary Renner and Artie Cosner, Hagerstown, Tasha, Cumberland, and three in Florida; one step-granddaughter Patricia Deter, Cumberland; five great-grandchildren; one step great-grandson Alec Deter, Cumberland; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. And, his dog and “best  buddy”, Punky.
