— CUMBERLAND — Gene Paul Wilt, 77, of Short Gap, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at the Golden Living Center.

Born on Feb. 22, 1935, in Key-ser, he was the son of the late Francis Truman and Florence Ellen “Betty” (Wilson) Wilt.

Gene was an Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict and served as a groundskeeper for the Finan Center.

Surviving is his wife, Vera Wilt; his daughter, Carlene Yarbrough and husband Jimmy, of Short Gap; his son, Brian K. Wilt and four grandchildren, Dalton Lee Wilt, Breanna K. Wilt, Hayle Yarbrough and Alex Yarbrough. He is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth Jackson and husband Andre, of Bowie and three brothers, Jim Wilt and wife Cathy, of Oakland, Leon Wilt, of Swanton and Roger Wilt, of Oakland and his faithful companion and best friend, Mechiko.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  

A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Joe DiNicola officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Military honors will be accorded by the Post 13 Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
