AUGUSTA, W.Va. — James William Arvin, 69, of Augusta, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Winchester Medical Center.
Born on July 19, 1943, he was the son of the late Edith (Henson) Dennison. James was also preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Hess and one brother, Charles Arvin.
He was retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years of service. He served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion and the Tearcoat Church of the Bre-thren.
Surviving is his wife, Sharon (Fishel) Arvin, two daughters, Anna Marie Eaton and husband Ronald and Jamie Renee Pierce and husband Jerry, both of Augusta; two brothers, Larry Dennison and Paul Arvin, both of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a sister, Linda Hess, of Martinsburg, W.Va. and five grandchildren, Jarrett Eaton, Sawyer, Jericho, Marisha, and Kalesha Pierce.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, W.Va.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Tearcoat Church of the Brethren with Pastor Tom Rowan officiating.
Interment will follow in Tearcoat Cemetery, Augusta, W.Va.
