OPAL G. ROY [Oakland]

OAKLAND — Opal Glendine Roy, 81, of Oakland, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.

Born July 13, 1931, in Cuzzart, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Fuller and Mearl (Summers) Reckart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Reland Adair Roy; two infant children, Edison and Robin; a brother, Willard Reckart; and three sisters, Kayron Reckart, Kathleen Roy and Geraldine Noyes.

Mrs. Roy was a homemaker, a member of Meadow Glade Homemakers and attended Loch Lynn Church of God.

She is survived by four daughters, Deborah Zimmerman and husband, George, Oakland, Reva Martin and husbnd, Dennis, Terra Alta, W.Va., Donna Watt and husband, Art, Dunn, N.C., Teresa Ridder, Oakland; three brothers, Darrell, Robert and Delmas Reckart; six sisters, Edna Shaffer, Jean Sonneman, Florence Friend, Gloria Foy, JoAnn DeBerry and Nancy Bennett; a sister-in-law, Grace Reckart; 12 grandchildren, Robert Zimmerman and wife, April, Matthew Zimmerman and wife, Jessica, Rachel Zimmerman, Sarah Martin and Brad Ridder, all of Oakland, Laura Martin, Pittsburgh, Pa., Tonya Watt and Daniel Watt and wife, Destiney, all of North Carolina, Aaron Watt and wife, Robyn and Maria Page and husband, Ben, all of Georgia, Adam Watt and wife, Megan, Florida, Krista Ridder, West Virginia; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, East Wing and Garrett County Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Opal.

Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 203 South Second St., Oakland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the Old Loch Lynn Church of God, 121 E. 1st Ave., Loch Lynn, on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Skipper officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services.

Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Loch Lynn Church of God Building Fund or the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home Activities Department.
