MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Virginia Lee Evans, 101, of Moorefield, W.Va., passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, W.Va.
Born on Feb. 1, 1912, in Hardy County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Walter Barr and Laura Hines Barr. Virginia was also preceded in death by her husband, Bennie A. Evans, on May 10, 1986; one son; three sisters and seven brothers.
She is survived by four daughters, Eleanor Baker, of Ridgeley, W.Va., Naomi Southerly, of Prince Frederick, Frances Sherman and Dor-othy Wilson, both of Moorefield, W.Va.; one daughter-in-law, Grace Evans, of Front Royal, Va.; three sisters, Georgiana Sherman, of Rig, W.Va., Ramona Evans, of Maysville, W.Va. and Mary Ann Barr, of Petersburg, W.Va.; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Virginia was a retired cook, having worked for the Hardy County Board of Education for twenty-two years. She was also a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Frosty Hollow, W.Va.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, April 9, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Elmore Funeral Home in Moorefield, W.Va.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastors Doyle Patch and Ken Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at the Kessel Cemetery in Kessel, W.Va.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bible Baptist Church.
