CUMBERLAND — Richard “Dick” Johnson died peacefully at home on Nov. 28, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Richard graduated from Chestnut Ridge High School in New Paris, Pa., class of 1959, where he enjoyed an outstanding wrestling career. Following graduation, he served his country in the U. S. Coast Guard. He then returned home to Cumberland where he became employed with, and eventually retired from Sears, Roebuck and Co.

He was also an avid golfer and a lifetime member of the Good Fellowship Club.

He lived his life surrounded by his friends and family alike. The old saying, “he never met a stranger” must have been written about him, as he was loved by all who came to meet him.
