— CUMBERLAND — Betty Jane Bowman, 89, of Cumberland, earned her wings and went home to walk with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at the Lions Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care.

Born May 23, 1923, in Cumberland, Mrs. Bowman was the daughter of the late James Kelly Fletcher and Thelma Candace (Knippenberg) Fletcher. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William A. “Billy” Bowman Sr.; a son, William A. “Bill” Bowman Jr.; two brothers, James and Kenneth Fletcher; a sister, Virginia Fletcher and a great-grandson, Dakota “Cody” Bowman.

On her journey through life, Betty became a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker and formerly employed by Drug Fair and Gee Bee Department Store.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Donna Jean Bowman-Weltman and husband Terry, of Cumberland and her sisters, Peggy Logsdon, Carol Tribut and husband John and Darlene Taylor, all of Ridgeley, W.Va. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lisa Gaughan, Douglas Gaughan, Mark T. Ruby and wife Sandy, B.J. Forquer and husband Robert, Betty Jane Wise and husband Kenny, Christina Messersmith and husband Pierce, Misty Weisenburg and husband Mark, John and Patrick Cutty and April Bowers and husband Phil; her great-grandchildren, Dougie and Andrew Gaughan, Billy Forquer, Lloyd Bowman, Mark A. and Jonathan Ruby, Mark and Allan Weisenburg, David Cutty, Phillip and Wyatt Bowers and Justin Wise and daughter-in-law, Tina Lane Bowman.

Services will be private.
