RELLA M. WHETZEL [Burlington, W.Va.]

BURLINGTON, W.Va. — Rella M. Whetzel, 73, of Burlington, W.Va., died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg, W.Va.

Born March 5, 1939, at New Creek, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Ocie and Jessie Agnes (Aronhalt) Thompson. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Vercie Gregory, Dortha Lee Thompson, Ruby Moreland and Annie Westfall and four brothers, Elmer, Tony, Lawrence and Marvin Thompson.

Mrs. Whetzel was employed as a sales representative for Stanley Home Products and was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her children, Valerie Lynn Funk and husband Andrew, Willard Scott Whetzel and wife Brenda, all of Keyser, W.Va. and Stacey Dawn Kuykendall and husband Norman, of Maysville, W.Va.; two brothers, Delmar Thompson, of New Creek, W.Va. and Jason Thompson, of Maysville; three sisters, Mary Ross, of Swanton, Edith Haggerty, of Burlington and Freda Corwin of Morgantown, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Terry, Michael and Alicia Mongold, Amanda and Ashley Whetzel and Jacob and Jessica Wagoner and five great-grandchildren, Laeleigh, Aleighia, Michael, Braden and Adrian.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, with Pastor Gwen Wolford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
