KENNETH E. HEDRICK [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Kenneth Eugene Hedrick, 66, of Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at his home, living his life to the fullest until the end.

Born Oct. 6, 1946, in Cumberland, Mr. Hedrick was the son of the late Eugene M. Hedrick and Audrey M. (Hammond) Hedrick. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and David Hedrick and an uncle, Leo Hammond.

A graduate of Fort Hill High School, class of 1964, Ken was a United States Naval veteran. His training began in the Navy with underwater demolition groups and was attached to the United States Marines for land duty in Vietnam. Ken was formerly employed at Pittsburg Plate Glass and retired from CSX Railroad.  

With Ken’s passing, the family feels that the fish and deer are safe, his fishing buddies can now use his spots and the DNR doesn’t have to worry anymore.

Ken is survived by his wife of seven years, Debra (Rogers) Hedrick; his sons, Jeffrey Brian Hedrick, of Richmond, Va., Jeremy James Hedrick and wife Veronica, of Cumberland, Thomas Eugene Hedrick and wife Emily, of Ridgeley, W.Va. and his daughter, Tana Lynn Dilley, of Martinsburg, W.Va. He also leaves behind his stepson, Clay Kendall, of New York; his stepdaughter, Christina R. Wolfry and husband Daniel, of Spotsylvania County, Va.; his sister, Betty Grandel and husband Kenneth, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; his grandchildren, Emily, Payton, Landri, Ariana, Brayden, Jocelyn, Abigail, Colton, Alexis, Clay Jr., Mark, Luke and Matthew; a special nephew, David Lee Grandel; two dear friends, Cathy Gray and Kenny Wilmont; three hunting and fishing buddies, Wes Powell, Rick Stein, and Billy Nail; as well as numerous family and friends.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Sunday, June 30, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A memorial service will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, July 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Kennedy officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery.
