HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Ray Melvin Evans Sr., 68, of Huntington, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Ray was born on May 11, 1944, in Cumberland, the son of the late Myrl Stanley and Arbutus Louise Davis Evans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Marie Evans and a brother, Carl Evans.
Ray was a locomotive painter with the CSX Railroad and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Ray is survived by his wife Virginia Rockwell Evans; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ray Melvin Evans Jr. and Lisa Evans and Jacob Kane Evans; two daughters, Tonya Sue Evans and Vanessa Ann Stanley, all of Huntington; seven grandchildren and spouse, Ryan Mitchell and Ashley Evans, Tristan Ray Evans, Kearston Sue Evans, Chaz Grobe, Alison Kay Adkins, Zachary Dillon and Brackston Stanley; one great-grandson, Bryson Shawn Evans; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Myrl Richard and Loretta Evans, of Old Furnace Road, John Jackson and Elizabeth Evans of Knoxville, Tenn., Kenneth L. and JoAnne Evans, of Ellerslie and Donald and Darlene Evans of North Carolina; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte Lee of Cumberland, Shirley and Donald Lawrence of LaVale, Betty Jane Umstead of Fort Ashby, W.Va. and Sandra Kay and Harry Taylor, of Cresaptown.
