TROY S. TODD [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Troy Shawn Todd, 44, of Cumberland, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

Born March 2, 1969, in Cumberland, he was the son of Richard L. and Patricia (Maiers) Todd, Fort Ashby, W.Va.

Troy was a 1987 graduate of Fort Hill High School, where he played football and baseball. He received his Bachelor’s degree in biology from Frostburg State University in 1991. Troy played baseball with the Dapper Dan Pirates, Hot Stove Elks, the American Legion and the Allegany College baseball team. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Troy was a hunter who loved the outdoors and being on his four-wheeler with his wing man, Ryan, which gave him great pleasure. He began his career at UPS in 1990.

Troy is survived by his wife, Suzanne Raina (Rotz) Todd; his daughter; Clarissa; his son, Ryan Todd; his brother, Christopher R. Todd, Fort Ashby; an uncle, Ronnie Maiers, Cumberland; and two aunts, Carol Jean Kesler and husband Jim, Cumberland, and Marilyn Phillips and husband Jack, Barton. Also surviving is his mother and father-in-law, Judy and Randy Rotz, Chambersburg, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Lori Edmondson and husband John, Chambersburg; and two nephews, Hunter and Carter Edmondson.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (www.scarpellifh.com) on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 2 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, LaVale, on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Chuck Erzkus and Vicar Jennifer M. Bramble officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Van Gaus, Dave Deter, John Phillips, Todd Phillips, Randy Hall and John Edmondson.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be directed to Ryan’s education fund, c/o Suzanne Todd, 12514 Golden Ave. SE, Cumberland, MD 21502.
