RUSSELL R. MCROBIE [Westernport]

WESTERNPORT —Russell R. McRobie (Mac), 91, formerly of Westernport, died on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 at the Egle Nursing Home in Lonaconing; where he has resided for the past four years. He was born in Altomont, on Dec. 5, 1921 and was the son of the late Luther F. McRobie and Lula Mae (Harvey) McRobie. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Ann (Piccolo) McRobie and his stepbrothers, Arlington Fickes and Herman Fickes and his Stepsisters, Caroline Jezierski and Bonnie Powers.

Russell was a devoted member of Saint Peter’s Catholic Church in Westernport. He was a former lay incorporator and usher.  He was a member of Council 685 K of C and Chief Justice Tawney Assembly 4th Degree K of C.

Mac was a veteran of World War II. He served in the Army from 1942 until 1945. He was a life member of Kelly-Mansfield Post 52 in Piedmont and was also a member of the last Man’s Club at the legion. He was also a life member 32nd Division Veterans Association. He was a member of the Redmen Club in Westernport.

He retired from Westvaco Corporation as a Security Guard. He served for many years as trial magistrate in Allegany County and was appointed to the position of Commissioner at large for the District Court in Allegany County until his retirement in 1984. He also worked after retirement as a Security Officer in the state of Florida while he vacationed in the winter months.

Russell is survived by his wife Dottie (Fazenbaker) Foutz-McRobie of Westernport. He is also survived by his stepsisters, Jessie Richter and husband Garland of Albany, Ga. and Mrs. Betty Israel of Waverly, Va. and Mrs Lulubelle Zigler and husband the Rev. Gary of Bridgewater, Va. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and stepson, Jim Foutz and family of Myrtle Beach, S.C. He also leaves behind his best buddy, Milton Hart of Westernport.

Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont, W.Va., on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 from 5 until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church in Westernport at 11 a.m. with Father Ed Hendricks as celebrant. Interment will follow at Saint Peter’s Cemetery. Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard will provide military Honors.
