RICHARD L. ILIFF SR. [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Richard Lee Iliff Sr., 82, of Cumberland, went to be with our Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Oct. 21, 1931, in Cumberland, Mr. Iliff was the son of the late Leroy Iliff and Leona May (Cook) Morgan. He was also preceded in death by a half-brother, Ronald Imler; an infant brother, Charlie Iliff; and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

A United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the Fifth Calvary, Richard retired from the Cumberland Country Club as the assistant greens keeper and loved taking care of the golf course. He was old-time Presbyterian in his childhood, and was a member of the Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion, and the Henry Hart Post 1411 V.F.W.  Richard loved hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, June Ann Iliff; his sons, Richard L. Iliff Jr. and wife, Glenda, Cumberland, R. Mike Iliff Sr. and wife, Linda and Buck Iliff and wife, Elizabeth, all of Oldtown. He also leaves behind his sisters, Paulette Ahearn and Delores Sills and husband, Ronnie, whom he hunted many years with; his grandchildren, Samantha, Crystal, Luke, Rachel, Bobby Jr., Cassie, David Jr., Randy, and Marlana; his great-grandchildren, Cody, Addison, Savanna, Isabella, Aurora; and his special canine friend, Pee Wee.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland,  (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Lancaster officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.

Richard's family would like to remember the sincere efforts given to their father by Virgil, Toad, Lester, and Howie Cook and the rest of the Cook Family.
