CUMBERLAND — Louise Elizabeth Swadley, 95, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born March 13, 1918, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Elmer Monahan and Matilda Elizabeth (Sperry) Monahan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur R. Swadley on May 28, 2003, and two sisters, Matilda Bittinger and Agnes Clark.
A homemaker, Louise was a member of Holy Cross United Methodist Church, Carpendale, W.Va.; the Ladies Bible Class; The Ridgeley V.F.W. 6452 Auxiliary; the National Association of Retired and Veterans Railway Employees; the retired Carmen and Guest Association; as well as a member of AARP.
She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Ann Aldridge and husband Frank “Doc,” of Cumberland and Twila Sue Fykes and husband Scott, of Salisbury; two sisters, Evelyn Coffman and husband Lloyd, of Furnace Acres, W.Va. and Leona Young, of Warren, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jill Cornwell and friend Kevin Bailey, of Cumberland, Erin Fykes, of Salisbury and Michael McCullough and friend Erica Bishop, of Cumberland; as well as great-grandchildren, Jacelyn Rinehart, of Virginia Beach, Va., Draven Baker, Linken Cornwell, Kynzee Cornwell, Brandon McCullough and Kolten McCullough, all of Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Holy Cross United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Tom Young officiating. Friends will also be received at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
