— MOUNT SAVAGE — Franklin Richard “Rich” O’Baker, 75, of Mount Savage, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, in Woodbridge, Va.

Born April 29, 1938, in Wellersburg, Pa., Mr. O’Baker was the son of the late Gilbert George O’Baker and Nina Alta (Lowery) O’Baker. He was also preceded in death by a half-brother, Dewayne Close, and three brothers, Paul O’Baker, Charles Edward O’Baker, and Gilbert Leroy “June” O’Baker.

Rich graduated from Mount Savage High School, Class of 1956. He was always a “car man” and worked on and loved antique cars.  Rich was employed at Shell Oil Company, the Celanese Fibers Corporation of America, and Valley Trucking Company. He was a lifelong friend of the Barrelville Presbyterian Church. Rich was president of the Barrelville Water Company for over 20 years; a member of the Barrelville Outdoor Club, the Kennels Mill Outdoor Club, and the Mason-Dixon Lions Club. Rich was also a retired Teamster.

Rich enjoyed attending car shows where he usually showed his 1981 Chrysler Imperial. He had a die cast car collection of over 110 model cars. Rich was the proud owner of a 1927 Oakland that he recently restored and ran in the Mount Savage Parade and was hoping to show soon. He enjoyed watching NASCAR in its early days and more recently became a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Rich took pride in helping with the Annual O’Baker Family Reunion and enjoyed his time with extended family. He loved helping others and was available at all hours of the day and night. Most of all, Rich was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.

Rich is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Wanda “Molly” L. (Bridges) O’Baker; his children, Linda Unkefer and husband, Scot, Remington, Va., Lana Wilson and husband, Rob, Woodbridge, Va., Marty O’Baker and wife, Dee, Stafford Va., and Libby Benson and husband, Greg, Woodbridge, Va. He also leaves behind his brothers, Jerry Lee O’Baker and wife, Marilyn, Mount Savage, and Fred E. O’Baker and wife, Betty, Hyndman, Pa., and his sister: Shirley Elizabeth Shaffer and husband, Jack, Belle Vernon, Pa. Rich is also survived by his grandchildren, Sarah and Joshua Unkefer, Matthew Wilson, Logan and Connor O’Baker, Steven and Andrew Benson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and an unlimited supply of good friends.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, ( on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. George Harpold officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
