POTOMAC PARK — Mabel Gelene Leslie, 74, of Potomac Park in Cumberland, passed away on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 at her home.
Born in Cumberland, on July 3, 1939, she was the daughter of the late, William Howard “Tojo” and Emma (Hinton) Mellott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Jean Leslie; brothers, Sonny Mellott, Richard Mellott, Sr., Alfred “Jake” Mellott; sisters, Emma “Pat” Hammer, Linda Douglas, and great-granddaughter Trinity Robinette.
Mabel attended Fort Hill High School, she worked at the Fargo Tavern for many years, and later retired from the Schwab Company where she was an inspector and a member of the maintenance staff. Mabel so loved shuffleboard and shufflebowl. She was a volunteer for the Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Company. Mabel most of all liked to play Yahtzee with her family and friends.
Surviving are her husband, John R. Leslie, Sr.; daughters, Pam Baker and husband George Ft. Ashby, W.Va., Annette Thomas and husband Dennis, Mississippi; son, John R. Leslie, Jr. Romney, W.Va.; grandchildren, Heather Andrews and Roy Englebauch, John R. Leslie, III, Samantha Leslie, Nicole Leslie, Andrea Leslie, Jonelle Leslie, Cynthia Leslie, Ianna Leslie, Jason Getz and wife Casey, Crystal Pharse; great-grandchildren, Kiersten Getz, Savannah Getz, Akira Everett, Piper Mae Shaw, Holdyn Joseph Leslie, Katherine Engelbach; sisters, Shirley Lindner, Cumberland, Glenda Blanchard, Baltimore, Vickie Shanholtz, Carpendale, W.Va., Margie Lindner and husband Dave, Ft. Ashby, W.Va.; brothers, William “Ducky” Mellott, Romney, W.Va., Benjamin Mellott, W.Va., several nieces and nephews and also great nieces and nephews.
Friends were be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., McMullen Hwy., Cresaptown (www.scarpellifh.com) on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Nov. 13th, 2013, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Brian Moreland officiating.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park.
Granny most of all loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed entertaining them and being part of all their activities.
