— CUMBERLAND — Rosemary B. Conway, 90, of Cumberland, died Dec. 15, 2013, at Rest Assured Residential Living, Meyersdale, Pa.

Born on Dec. 17, 1923 in Rockville, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Stella Bell. She was preceded in death by her husband, George K. Conway; and brothers, Dale and Charles Bell.

She attended business school in Indianapolis and worked as a secretary in an airplane factory during World War II. She met her husband George there at a USO and they were married after the war in June 1946. They moved to Cumberland and later LaVale, and raised a family of two children. She taught preschool known as the School of Happy Friends and later served for several years as secretary at LaVale United Methodist Church. She was also a member of United Methodist Women and the Century Club. In addition, she served as a docent at the historic LaVale Tollgate, as well as the Allegany Museum.

Surviving are her children, daughter, Cathy Wilkin and husband Bruce of Harpers Ferry, W.Va. and son, Kimel Conway of Long Beach, Calif.; a sister, Louise Dean and husband Don of Elwood, Ind.; granddaughter, Molly Wilkin and husband Frankie Biega of Washington, D.C.; and grandson, Cameron Wilkin, Greensboro, N.C.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland ( on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 from 3 to 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
