CHARLES R. “CHUCK” LEUCK [St. Augustine, Fla.]

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Charles “Chuck” Richard Leuck, 64, passed away at his home in St. Augustine, Fla., on June 11, 2013, after a brief and courageous battle with lung cancer.



Chuck was born in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, on Dec. 21, 1948. He was the son of Charles “Rich” Lueck and Marie (Riggleman) Leuck.



At the age of one and a half years, his family moved to the Washington, D.C. area, Prince George’s Co., due to a job relocation. Chuck grew up in the Temple Hills/Oxon Hill area. He graduated from Oxon Hill High School in 1966. He attended Northern Virginia and Prince George’s Community College, majoring in computer languages and sciences. After two years of college and about to be drafted, Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June, 1968. For two years, he was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Station in Illinois for boot camp and “A” school to further his computer skills. The following two years, he was stationed at Holly Lochs in Dunoon, Scotland, aboard the USS Canopus. While there, he married Beth Gerhart from Wisconsin, who is the mother of his three sons. After being discharged from the Navy, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring from there with 30 years of service. Chuck was the General Manager of Maintenance, Overhaul and Technical Service Center at the Merrifield Bulk Mail Center in Va. He later moved to St. Augustine, Fla.



Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles “Rich” Lueck. He is survived by his present wife, Barbara Bailey Lueck, St. Augustine, Fla.; his mother, Marie Lueck, Carpendale, W.Va.; and, his sons, Christopher Lueck, and wife Nilou, Santa Barbara, Calif., Lt. David Lueck, and wife Jenny, Boston, Mass., and Jesse Lueck, Myrtle Beach, S.C. Chuck’s grandson, Logan Jasper Lueck, was born Sept. 19, 2013, Santa Barbara, Calif., after his death. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanna Spielmann, and husband Christopher, Vienna, Va.; his nephew, Geoffrey Durham, and wife Lisa, Durham, N.C.; his niece, Amy Durham, and


 husband John Rossi, Philadelphia, Pa.; two great-nieces; one great-nephew; and, many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.



Chuck was fortunate to be surrounded by a large loving family and will be greatly missed.



At Chuck’s request, he was cremated. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held for family and friends on June 14, 2014 in Vienna, Va.
