CUMBERLAND — The Rev. Ervin Wesley Mason, Jr., 74, of Cumberland, went home to be with his Lord and Savior from the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born May 30, 1940, in Wiley Ford, W.Va., he was the son on the late Ervin Wesley, Sr. and Evelyn (Detrick) Mason. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alma (Leatherman) Mason and a close friend and cousin, Darlene Radcliff.
Rev. Mason was an Assembly of God minister and was a Sectional Christ Ambassador (CA) Youth Representative, Prayer Warrior, Churchman, and North Central Section Presbyter. He loved spending time with his friends and family as well as reading the Bible and praying.
He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Earlene (Richardson) Mason; his daughter, Kimberly F. Cutter and her husband William, Eckhart; his son, Wesley Charles Mason, Cumberland; a sister, Jeanette Linn and husband Alvin, Williamsport; a brother, Rodney Mason and wife Terri, Lancaster, Pa.; two grandchildren, Trevor William Cutter and Matthew Paul Cutter, both of Eckhart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave. (www.scarpellifh.com) on Friday, June 20, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at Central Assembly of God Church on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at noon with the Rev. Ken Burtram officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be held at Branch Mountain Cemetery, Three Churches, W.Va., on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at 2 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Ron Hampton, Butch Wright, Brian Linn, Alvin Lin III, Wesley Richardson and Gene Riffey.
