ROMNEY, W.Va. — Betty Sue Loy, 58, of Romney, W.Va., died Saturday evening, Nov. 16, at the home of her sister, Rebecca “Becky” Baker, Romney under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Betty was born in Romney on March 19, 1955, daughter of the late Rodney Wilson and Juanita Rebecca (Kidner) Smoot.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Yvonne.
Betty was a graduate of Hampshire High School Class of 1973. She enjoyed working outside and was employed at various places throughout the area. Betty loved playing blue grass music on her dulcimer. Her other interests included woodworking and watching old westerns.
Surviving are her husband, Ronald Loy, Romney; four step children; four brothers, Gary T. Kidner and wife, Susie, Romney, John W. Smoot and wife, Barbara, Stephens City, Va., Joseph E. Smoot, Romney, David F. Smoot and Becky Marsh, Romney; one sister, Rebecca “Becky” A. Baker and husband, Ronnie, Romney, two step grandchildren and two step-great-great grandchildren, and her dog, Sugar.
The family will receive friends at the Shaffer Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Shaffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Beard officiating.
Interment will be at Branch Mt. Methodist Cemetery, Three Churches, W.Va.
