CUMBERLAND — Richard Byron Stump, 84, of Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 22, 1928, in Cumberland, Rich was the son of the late John Louis Stump and Ada Mabel (Pultz) Stump. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Blair and Willis Stump and two sisters, Eileen and Ada Stump.
Rich delivered the Cumberland Times while attending Allegany High School. After serving in the United States Army, he graduated from American University, Washington, D.C., with a degree in Business and received his CPA. Rich worked as a federal employee in the Washington, D.C., area. While living in Suitland, Rich became a realtor and continued that profession after returning home to Cumberland in the late 1980’s.

Rich always had a bountiful garden that he shared with friends and relatives. He loved his adopted pets, most recently, “Liberty,” and in lieu of flowers, Rich would be so happy if you would make a donation to Cumberland's animal shelter, Post Office Box 566, Cumberland, MD 21501-0566; or better yet, ADOPT A PET, in his honor.
