MCCOOLE — Robert E. “Bob” Brown, 87, of McCoole, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born on March 9, 1926 in Piedmont, W.Va., he was a son of the late James A. and Ester (Martin) Brown. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Anna Lee Waldron; and grandson Brian Moorehead.
Bob retired from Celanese Corporation as a machinist. He was a Presbyterian by faith, a lifetime member of McCoole Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the McCoole Street Light Committee. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, whom he married on Jan. 14, 1946, Betty E. (Westfall) Brown; his children, Marsha Shahan and husband Steven of McCoole, Beverly Carder and husband Darrel of McCoole and Robert W. Brown of Springfield, W.Va.; his grandchildren, Cory Dyer, Amy Moorehead; and his great-grandchildren, Tyler Redman and Tessa Redman. He is also survived by a special sister-in-law and brother in-law, Helen Westfall Bartimac and husband George of Baden, Pa.; and friend and neighbor, Jose Everett.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, W.Va., Friday, March 22, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Karen Long officiating.
Interment will follow in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
