— FROSTBURG — Matilda Davis Richards, 96, formerly of Piedmont, W.Va., died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home.

Born Aug. 31, 1916, in Piedmont, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Dent Davis and Novella (Boal) Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Horace Richards and three sisters, Betty Davis, Christine Carney and Lucille Davis.

She attended Piedmont High School. Matilda had worked in the family business, Davis Food Center for 52 years.

Mrs. Richards was a lifelong member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church. She was a charter member and Past Matron of Bethlehem Chapter 14, Order of the Eastern Star. She also belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include her nephew, Jeffrey Carney and wife Cindy, and their sons, Jackson and Josh, all of Scotch Plains, N.J.

The funeral service will be conducted in the Piedmont Presbyterian Church, 63 Ashfield St., Piedmont, W.Va., on Monday, March 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tom Forbes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
