CHARLEY F. MILLER [Winchester, Va.]

WINCHESTER, Va. — Charley Francis Miller, 98, formerly of Cumberland, and residing in Winchester, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Winchester Medical Center.

Born Nov. 5, 1914, at Sand Springs, Cumberland Valley, Bedford County, Pa., Mr. Miller was the son of the late Jasper R. Miller and Stella (Hook) Miller. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rozella A. (Coughenour) Miller; a daughter, Esther L. Twigg-Baker; two sisters, Eula Mortzfeld and Ethel Kincaid; three brothers, Floyd Miller, Roy Miller, and Percy Miller; and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Charley was formerly em-ployed at the Celanese Fibers Corporation of America and retired from the CSX Railroad as a conductor with 31 years of service. He participated in several sports, especially golf at which he excelled winning numerous tournaments and club championships. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He liked to say the best thing about playing sports was all the wonderful people he met and the great friends he made along the way. Charley was Methodist by faith and a member of the Maplehurst Country Club, Frostburg; the Bedford Elks G.C.; the Cumberland Eagles Lodge Aerie 245; the Bedford Elks Lodge 1707, and the National Association of Retired Railroad Employees, Inc.

Charley is survived by his granddaughters, Vickie Baker Killingbeck and husband Martin, Winchester, and Julie Baker Langley and husband Ed, of Port Tobacco; his grandson, Robert V. Baker Jr. and wife JoAnne, Germany; nine great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren; four great-great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 1 p.m.

Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park.
