CHARLES “WES” GARDNER [Pompano Beach, Fla.]

— POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — Charles “Wes” Gardner passed away Oct. 27, 2012 in the hospice unit of Holy Cross Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

Wes was born March 8, 1937 in Altoona, Pa., of Charles and Helen (Stuppio) Gardner.

After serving in the Air Force, Wes then went to work doing military contracts for ITT. Upon leaving ITT he worked for the PA Electric Company. He retired in 1994 and moved to Pompano Beach. Wes was an avid golfer and long time member of the Pompano Beach Golf Association He was a two time former member-guest champion at the Cumberland Country Club with 19 straight appearances.

 He is survived by his wife of 50 years, MaryAnn; son, Wesley of Marco Island, Fla.; daughter, Nikole and husband David Sensabaugh of Frostburg; daughter, Natalie and husband Matthew Wible of Pompano Beach. He will always be loved and missed by his family, his five grandchildren Christina,  Marissa, Weston, Abagail, and Sterling; his brother, Ed; and sisters Barbara, Mary, Patricia, Deborah, Cynthia, and Christine.

A celebration of his life will take place Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at the Cumberland Country Club from 4 to 6 p.m.

Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, is assisting the family with the local arrangements.
