CUMBERLAND — Dr. Robert James Manasse, 72, of Cumberland, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born April 22, 1940, in New York, N.Y., he was the son of the late Henry and Helene Manasse.
Dr. Manasse earned his PhD in Microbiology from Columbia University and served as a Clinical Microbiologist for over 25 years at both Memorial Hospital and the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
He was a member of B’er Chayim Temple where he served on the board.
Dr. Manasse is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elena Manasse; two daughters, Deborah Litman and husband David, of Cumberland and Michelle Manasse and partner Troy Winfrey, of Baltimore; three grandchildren, Jacob, Audrey and Eli Litman; a sister, Paula Schechter and husband Edward, of Anaheim, Calif. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, (www.scarpellifh.com) on Sunday, April 21, 2013, from noon to 2 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Rabbi Stephen Sniderman officiating.
Interment will be held at East View Cemetery.
