CATHERINE L. CONROY [Westernport]

WESTERNPORT — Catherine L. Conroy, 94, of Maryland Avenue in Westernport, died on Friday, April 19, 2013, at Eagle Nursing Home in Lonaconing.

She was born in Piedmont, W.Va., on March 1, 1919, and was the daughter of the late James Lupis and Teresa (Cavalla) Lupis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Conroy, in 1970; her brothers, Nick Lupis, Jimmy Lupis, John Lupis and Joseph Lupis; one sister, Nellie Patrone and a special niece, Carol Athey. She was the last of her immediate family.

Catherine was a devoted member of Saint Peter’s Catholic Church in Westernport and served on the bereavement committee for many years. She was a former member of the Court Sancta Maria Catholic Daughters of America, council 495. She was a 1936 graduate of Piedmont High School. She was retired from Westvaco Corporation in Luke and worked in the lab. She loved to dance especially line dancing and spend much of her time crocheting and knitting

Catherine is survived by many nieces and nephews, Teresa Savage and her husband James, of Pearisburg, Va., Gary Athey and wife Kristi, of Frostburg, John Athey, of Keyser, W.Va., John Lupis and wife Linda, of Ogden, Utah, Mary Westwood, Joe Patrone, Greg Patrone, Steve Lupis, Joe Lupis, Cathy Sue Lester, Jimmy Lupis Jr., Bill Lupis and Mike Lupis and many great-nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont, W.Va., on Sunday, April 21, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Peter’s Catholic Church in Westernport on Monday at 11 a.m. with Monsignor Rick Woy as the celebrant.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

The family request that memorials for Catherine be directed to Saint Peter’s Cemetery or the Saint Peter’s Bereavement Committee, 127 Church St., Westernport, MD 21562.
