SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Sylvia Jeane DeWitt, 78, of Salt Lake City, formerly of Cumberland, passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2013.
She was a caring daughter, sister, friend, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was married for 57 years to her loving husband. She enjoyed Halloween (with costumes), sewing, working as a nurses aid, gardening, and singing in the church choir.
She had a great sense of humor and was easy to laugh. She lived an active and wonderful life and will be missed by friends and family.
Surviving family are husband, Robert DeWitt; daughter and son-in-law, Lana and John Schowengerdt; brother, Fred Bagley; sister, Patricia Christner; grandchildren, Drew and Lyndee Schowengerdt, Adam Schowengerdt, Alisa and Tyler Maughan and great-grandchildren, Austin and Quinn Schowengerdt.
A memorial open house was held on June 9, 2013, for her family and friends in Utah. And for those in Maryland, on July 26, 2013 at 1 p.m., she will be laid to rest at Rocky Gap State Park Chapel.
