— CUMBERLAND — Randall David Swanger, 61, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the V.A. Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born on Jan. 7, 1952 in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Jesse Willard and Willa Ellen (Mummert) Swanger. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Linda Swanger; and his brother, Gerald Swanger.  

Randall was a United States Army veteran during the Vietnam War Era. He was a retired painting contractor. Randall was a member of the Redman Club Sioux Council 64. He enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes, camping, and was an avid Redskins and Orioles fan.  

Surviving are his first wife, special friend, and mother of Melissa, Sue Davis; daughters, Melissa Swanger and Renee Ray and fiance Adam Elbin; his sons, David Mauck and special friend Kim Adams, Jason Ray, Herb Ray and wife Christine; his sisters, Joyce McCarty, Bernadine Houdersheldt, LeeAnn Stickley, Karen Bolinger and husband Nick; his brothers, Donald Swanger, Leo Swanger and wife Sandy, his twin brother, Rick Swanger; his grandchildren, Bella Maistros-Ray, David and Sierra Mauck, Zane Crosten; numerous nieces and nephews; and his “granddog” Bindi.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A. ( 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013 from noon until 1 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Gene Riffey officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
