FROSTBURG — Robert Wesley “Bing” Bittinger, 54, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 on Meadow Mountain, Garrett County, Maryland while hunting with family and friends.

Born Aug. 21, 1958 in Frostburg, Maryland; he was the son of Bernard Bittinger and Helena (Broadwater) Bittinger. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Columbus Bittinger and Rose Bittinger and maternal grandparents, Elbert Broadwater and Mary (Fazenbaker) Broadwater.

Mr. Bittinger was a United States Navy veteran of ten years. He was a member of God's Ark of Safety, Frostburg. Bing was employed by Allegany County working in the maintenance department. Bing was a loving, caring husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Each day he brought joy to those around him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, helping others, spending time with his wife, children and extended family, and most of all, worshiping the Lord.

He is survived by his wife of fourteen years, Melissa Ann (Skidmore) Bittinger; a son, Robert Wesley, and a daughter, Sally Ann; two brothers, Leroy Bittinger and wife, Cindy, of Frostburg, and Rick Bittinger and wife, Lana, of Rawlings; two sisters, Bernetta (Bittinger) Littlejohn and husband, Jimmy of Lenoir, N.C., and Lou Ann Bittinger of Frostburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the God's Ark of Safety Church on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the God's Ark of Safety Church on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Everett Spence officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Farrady Post 24 at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main Street, Frostburg, 21532, for a College Fund for Robert and Sally.
