CUMBERLAND — Michael Edwin Burns, 60, of Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born on Dec. 5, 1952 in Cumberland, he was the son of Franklin and Jeannine (Higgins) Burns.
Michael was a United States Air Force veteran during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. He graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1972. Michael loved hunting and fishing.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his brother, Glenn Burns; he is also survived by his extended family from Dale Lee, his special friend that preceded him in death; Jennifer Lee and her children, Dylan Lee, Devin Lee, and Dalton Lee; Todd Lee and Dylan’s daughter, Ashlyn.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A. (www.scarpellifh.com) 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home at 1 p.m. with Brother Urbeno Vazquez O.F.M., Cap.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veteran’s Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
Military honors will be accorded by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
