ROBERT D. CENDO [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Robert Damean Cendo, 59, of Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at his home.

Born April 19, 1954, in Ljubljdna, Slovenia, he was the son of the late John and Dr. Margaret (Zupancic) Cendo.

Bob and his family moved to the United States when he was seven years old. He was a graduate of Lakeridge Academy in Ohio and Case Western Reserve University. He graduated from medical school in Mexico and continued his education at the Medical School of Toledo. Bob did his residency at Saint Luke’s Hospital, Cleveland and a hand fellowship in Louisville, Ky. He was an avid downhill snow skier photographer and enjoyed motor sports.

Bob was an orthopedic surgeon and a partner at the Surgeon’s Surgical Center and a partner in the ownership of Seton Apartments.

He is survived by three sons, Demetri Z. Cendo, Sergei P. Cendo and Cosimos S. Cendo. He is also survived by Kim (Rowan) Cendo and her daughter Marissa and her husband William and a brother, Richard Cendo and Gary Hamner, of Boulder, Colo.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave. ( on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m.

A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 7 p.m.

As per his wishes he was cremated.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those wishing to honor the Cendo family may do so by making contributions to the Education Fund for the Cendo children at Susquehanna Bank, 71 Baltimore St., Cumberland, MD 21502. Make checks payable to children of Robert D. Cendo.
