KEYSER, W.Va. — Emma Jean Johnson, 87, formerly of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at Heartland of Keyser.
Born in Lonaconing on Sept. 18, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Thomas “Peanut” Walters and Stella Gallagher Walters.
In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by her husband, John R. “Bob” Johnson in 1992; daughters, Linda Johnson and Darlene Johnson Winsfield; grandson, Sammy Ross; granddaughter, Roberta Gomer; sisters, Betty Hacker and Norma Poland.
She was a retired custodian with the Allegany County Board of Education.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Barbara “Bobbie” Livingston and husband, Roger, Port Charlotte, Fla., Brenda Ross and husband, Sam, Cumberland; son, John Robert Johnson Jr. and wife, Diane, Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Christy, Tracy, Robert, Christopher, April, Scott, Nikki, Kelly, Becky, Mandy and Rhianna; twenty great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Hafer Funeral Service, P.A., Chapel of the Hills, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, following the viewing at noon, with the Rev. Harold Mcclay officating.
In accordance with Emma’s wishes, she will be cremated following the services and inurnment will be held at a later date at Frostburg Memorial Park.
