FRIENDSVILLE — Kenneth Landis Friend, 89, of Friendsville, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Oct. 31, 1924, in Sang Run, he was the son of the late Carl and Mary (Lowdermilk) Friend. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lydia J. (Spear) Friend and two sisters, Delora Dixon and Lucille Newcomer.
Mr. Friend was owner/operator of Ken’s Tavern and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Friendsville United Methodist Church, Confluence VFW Post 7250 and Woodmen of the World Camp 45, Friendsville.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth Vaughn Friend, Friends-ville and a half-brother, Curtis Friend, Oakland.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave., Friendsville, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Robinson officiating. Interment will be in the Steele Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Grantsville Post 214, American Legion.
