CAROL A. MCDONALD [Ridgeley, W.Va.]

RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Carol Ann (Freidhofer) McDonald, 74, of Ridgeley, W.Va., went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 25, 1939, in Egg Harbor City, N.J., Mrs. McDonald was the only daughter of the late Paul Friedhofer and Carrie (Richter) Friedhofer. She was also preceded in death by Jim’s sister, Linda Maires.

A graduate of Egg Harbor City High School, Class of 1956, Carol was a band member where she played the trumpet. She worked for Prudential Life Insurance Company for 20 years followed by 10+ years at Sears-Robuck Company. Carol was a member of the Lady of Shrine, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 245, The Ridgeley American Legion, and the Loyal of the Moose Ladies Auxiliary. She was a lifetime member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club and the Goodfellowship Club. Carol loved playing cards, shuffleboard, and had a great love for hummingbirds.

Carol is survived by her husband of nine years, James McDonald; her son, Cyril Bonetski and wife, Kimberly, Mays Landing, N.J., and her grandson, David Franzmathes, Jr., Mays Landing, N.J. Through marriage, Carol was stepmother to Brenda Lee Elrod and James D. McDonald; a step-grandmother to her grandson, Wade Brotemarkle and wife, Jenny of Tennessee, and step-great-grandmother to Ethan Wade Brotemarkle and Jayla Brotemarkle. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Ronald Glenn McDonald and wife, Roberta, Cumberland.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, ( on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor Sandy Cowan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Jude’s Children Hospital, Saint Jude Tribute Program, Post Office Box 100, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN  38148-0142.
