MARY E. SEARS [Piedmont, W.Va.]

— PIEDMONT, W.Va. — Mary Elizabeth Sears, 87, of East Fairview St., Piedmont, W.Va., died at Heartland of Keyser on July 6, 2014. She was born on Jan. 3, 1927 in Barnum, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late John Farris and Beulah (Virts) Farris.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John Vernon Sears Sr.; her son, John Vernon Sears Jr.; her sisters, Louise Bray and Betty Johnson, and her nephew, Donald Bray.

She was a strong willed woman who was very dedicated to working at her local business, the Tri-Towns Variety Store. She was a member of the Piedmont Presbyterian Church. She dearly loved her great-grandson, Lucas and enjoyed teaching him new things at the store and watching him grow up.

Mary is survived by her two granddaughters, Pamela Burkett and her husband Joshua of Westernport, and Jennifer Sears of Piedmont, W.Va. She is also survived by three nieces, Judy Bray of Rawlings, Karen Kimble of Keyser, W.Va., and Nancy Johnson of Keyser, W.Va.; two nephews, Richard Bray of Rawlings, and Norman Bray of Keyser, W.Va.; her great-niece, Amber Morgan and two great-nephews, Jeremiah Kiser and John Burkett, and one special great-grandson, Lucas John Burkett, the love of her life, a special cousin, Wanda Morris of New York and dedicated friends, Angela and Julie Smith.

The family will receive friends at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont, W.Va., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m., at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Forbes officiating.

Interment will be at Potomac Memorial Gardens in Keyser, W.Va.

The family request that Memorials for Mary be directed to the Piedmont Presbyterian Church, 63 Ashfield St. Piedmont, WV 26750.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Staff of Heartland of Keyser for the wonderful care they provided for Mary.
