KEYSER, W.Va. — Philip A. “Phil” Mele, 78, of Keyser, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Potomac Valley Hospital.
Born on May 11, 1936 in Keyser, he was the son of Mary Margaret (Fazzalore) and Philip Mele. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lee (Davis) Mele on Oct. 3, 1989.
Phil was a 1954 graduate of Keyser High School and retired from Westvaco Corporation where he had worked in Machine Coating and Box Shop. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 10545, Keyser.
Surviving are his son, Phillip A. Mele and wife Holly M. of Keyser; his two grandsons, Anthony and Benjamin Mele; and a very close cousin, Stan Szafran and wife Sue and their children, Corey and Christopher, all of Keyser.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held at the funeral home, on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the Church of the Assumption, 34 James St., Keyser, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. William K. Matheny Jr. as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Keyser.
