— NEW CREEK, W.Va. — Garland L. Leatherman, 81, of New Creek, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Born on Nov. 14, 1932 at Antioch, W.Va., he was a son of the late Otis McKinley and Bessie Alice (Rohrbaugh) Leatherman. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Knotts.

Mr. Leatherman was retired with 40 years of service from the Westvaco Luke Mill and was an avid farmer. He was a member of the Knobley Church of the Brethren, New Creek and attended the Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Assembly, Keyser, W.Va.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Ruby Lee (Rotruck) Leatherman; three sons, Randy G. Leatherman and wife Donna and Rocky L. Leatherman and wife Jeanne, all of New Creek and Rodney M. Leatherman and wife Mary Ann of Westernport; one brother, Landon G.F. Leatherman and wife Ruth of New Creek; one brother-in-law, Ernest Knotts and his companion Connie of Aurora, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Randy Leatherman II and wife Misty, Joshua Leatherman and wife Robin, Daniel Leatherman and wife Rachael, Erica Smith and husband Mike, Sara Leatherman and fiance Matthew DeHaven, Megan Leatherman and Lauren Leatherman; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Assembly, Newton Street, Keyser, on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Randy Leatherman and the Rev. Donald Knotts officiating. Friends may also call at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Thrush Cemetery, Antioch.

Condolences and personal reflections to the family may be left after Mr. Leatherman's obituary at
