HELEN F. (LANHAM) BOYER [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Helen Frances (Lanham) Boyer, 81, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 at Devlin Manor.

Born in Cumberland on July 11, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Paul and Lillian (Miller) Lanham. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Boyer in 1978; and a grandson, Sean R. Boyer in 1986.

Helen had worked at the Celanese and Rosenbaums clothing store during her younger years. She was a graduate of Allegany High School and also a graduate of Allegany College of Maryland. Helen was a loyal fan to the Allegany High School Campers. She loved to take long walks and enjoyed vacationing with her family in Ocean City. Helen was an avid animal lover and received the greatest enjoyment from her cat, “Blue Eyes.” She also liked to listen to music on her radio and watch as hummingbirds and cardinals feed from her birdfeeder.

Helen is survived by her “very” special friend of 33 years, George W. Rummer; as well as her son, Donald P. Boyer and wife Robin; her daughter, Debra H. Boyer and friend Elmer Kifer. Also surviving are four grandsons, Donnie Boyer and wife Shannon of Ridgeley, W.Va., Jeremy Boyer and his wife Brooke of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Aaron Boyer and Kody Boyer of Cumberland. Helen also had five great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Austin, Destinee, Maggie and Chace. She has two brothers, Paul Lanham and his wife Pat, Charles Lanham and his wife Rena all of Cumberland; three nieces and two nep-hews.

Friends were received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, from 4 to 6 p.m.

A funeral service was conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Dayhoff officiating.

Helen will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
