GRANTSVILLE — Esther Mae (Yommer) Durst, 95, of Grantsville, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Born May 6, 1918, in Salisbury, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Alice (Butler) Yommer.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Blaine R. Durst, July 26, 1985; son-in-law, Robert Finzel; three sisters, Beulah Patton, Bessie Kinsinger and Sarah Hoover; and two brothers, Harrison Yommer and Lester Yommer.

Mrs. Durst was owner and operator of Durst Dairy Mart, Grantsville and prior to this, operated Durst’s Store at Little Crossings, having served the public for over 25 years.  She was a member of the former St. John’s United Church of Christ, now known as Grace Community Church and was a charter member of the Grantsville Firemen’s Auxiliary.

Surviving are two daughters, Eloise Finzel, Grantsville, Mary Alice Clark and husband Jack, Greenwood, Del.; five grandchildren, Marla Reams, Laura Kearney and husband Garland, Ellen Petrone and husband Andy, Jill Long and husband Andy, Johnny Clark and wife Lucinda; nine great-grandchildren, Bambi, Brandon and wife Amanda, Kayla and husband Michael, Kenny, Terry, Brittany, Megan, Blaine and Isabel, and three great-great grandsons.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  

Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Owen Guengerich officiating.  

Interment will be in Grants-ville Cemetery.
