— RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Rich-ard James “Dick” Smith, 74, of Ridgeley, passed away, Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born in Salem, Mass., on Nov. 29, 1939 he was the son of the late Anastasia (Kozlowski) and James Smith.

Dick was retired from Watts Industries in Andover, Mass. He was an accountant. He was a graduate of Salem High School and Northeastern University. He was a member of the Danvers Fish and Game Club for many years while living in Massachusetts. Recently, he had become a member of the Ft. Hill Rifle Club.

Dick is survived by his wife 47 years, Esther (Castellarin) Smith; one daughter, Kristina Gaetani and husband, Steven of Cumberland; one grandaughter, Sophia; one sister, Donna Tucker, Rhode Island, N.Y.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. (www.ScarpelliFH.com), 108 Virginia Avenue on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home at 1 p.m.

Those wishing to honor Dick’s memory in lieu of flowers may make contributions to Bishop Walsh School.

Entombment will take place.
