CUMBERLAND — Philip Willington Ward, 90, of Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, June 22 2013, at Golden Living Center.

Born June 30, 1922, in Cumberland, Mr. Ward was the son of the late George Stanton Ward and Gladys Mae (Poorbaugh) Ward. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Virginia Ward, April 8, 2009; and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

A United States Army veteran of World War II, Phil worked for the B&O Railroad, the Fayette Candy Company, and retired from the State of Maryland. He was a member of the Holy Cross-Saint Philip’s Episcopal Church. Phil was also a member of the Queen City Lodge 131 A.F&A.M., the Scottish Rite — 32nd Degree, and was Captain of the Air Patrol of Shriners.

He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a very special friend.

A funeral service will held at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland,  (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Theresa Brion officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
