KEYSER, W.Va. — Gladys Teresa Calemine, 99, of Argyle Street, Keyser, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home.
Born on Dec. 9, 1913 at Davis, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Carmella (Manna) Cirillo. She also was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Calemine on Feb. 8, 1953; two brothers, James and Larry Cirillo; and three sisters, Mary Cirillo, Catherine Cirillo and Rose Scrivo.
Mrs. Calemine was a 1955 graduate of Potomac State College and Shepherd College in 1957. She was employed at the Westvaco Luke Mill for 12 years and retired as a language arts teacher with 22 years of service with the Mineral County School System. She was a faithful, dedicated member of the Church of the Assumption, Keyser.
Surviving are one son, Louis Joseph Calemine and wife Vicki of St. Simons Island, Ga.; one daughter, Nancy Ann Tyler and husband John of Belcamp; three grandchildren, Bethany Tyler, Emily Quassy and James V. Calemine; and three great-grandchildren, Juliet Calemine and Nicholas and Hailey Quassy.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at 10 a.m. with Father William K. Matheny Jr. as celebrant.
Interment will be in the St. Thomas Cemetery, Keyser.
