VERNA E. (WILBURN) EMRICK [Fort Ashby, W.Va.]

FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Verna Etheline (Wilburn) Yaider Emrick, 92, of Fort Ashby, passed away Sept. 22, 2013 at Dawn View Center, Fort Ashby.

Born June 20, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John L. Wilburn and the late Ada (Hoover) Wilburn. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Walter Wilburn, Cecil Wilburn, Marshall Wilburn, Elmer Wilburn, Everrett Wilburn, and Denzil Wilburn; and two sisters, Beulah Kenney and Edith Reilly. Verna was the last remaining member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Emrick was a former employee of Celanese Corporation, Kelly Springfield Malltronics, and Shennaman’s Garment Factory. She was also a member of the Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was an excellent cook and was known for her home made bread.

Surviving is one daughter, Linda Harden and husband Thomas, Fort Ashby; two sons, Donald Yaider and wife Cheryl, Ridgeley, W.Va. and John Harley Yaider Jr. and wife Carleita, Ridgeley; four grandchildren, Stacie Maze, Corbin, Ky., Billy Keating and partner Lance Davis, Cumberland, John Yaider III and fiancé Gail Blankenship, Wiley Ford, W.Va. and Scott Yaider, Carpendale, W.Va.; and eight great-grandchildren, Jacob, Noah and James Maze, Corbin, Elizabeth, Harley, and Baylee Yaider and Chloe Parson, Wiley Ford and Kaysie Yaider, Carpendale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (www.scarpellifh.com) on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Hickman officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m.

Interment will follow in Fort Ashby Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Shipley, Noah Maze, Billy Keating, John Yaider III, Scott Yaider and Tom Harden.

The family wants to give a very special thank you to all of the employees of Dawn View Center for the care, love, hugs and kisses they showered on their Mother. And a special thank you to Brian.
