— ACCIDENT — Lewis Jonas Miller, 80, Accident, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 of Lou Gehrig’s Disease, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

Born May 19, 1933, in Grantsville, he was the son of the late Floyd and Fannie (Maust) Miller. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Fannie (Bender) Miller Zook; two brothers, Jacob and Ivan; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth and Iva (Mrs. Grady Doyle).

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eva M. (Opel) Miller; a son, William Miller and wife, Joyce, Circleville, Ohio; two daughters, Patty Doerr and Tammy Rayman and husband, Mac, all of Accident; two brothers, Daniel Miller and wife, Grace, Meyersdale, Pa., Allen Miller and wife, Linda, Grantsville; nine sisters, Barbara Miller, Katharine Miller, Miriam Miller and Rachel Miller, all of Grantsvillem Loretta Burkey and husband, David, Friend, Neb., Rhoda Keefer and husband, Ralph, Oakland, Alice Orendorf and husband, Bernard, Accident, Gertrude Slabach and husband, David, Alton, Va.; Ida Marie Miller, Canada; a sister-in-law, Mary Miller, Greenwood, Del.; 11 grandchildren, April Miller, Tiffany Joslin and husband, Andrew and Lindsay Miller, all of Grantsville, Matthew, Aaron and Austin Doerr, Hannah, Isaac, Sarah, Lydia Fike and Shakira Rayman, all of Accident; two great-grandchildren, Ian Fratz and Noah Nicol, both of Grantsville.

Lewis was baptized as a youth in the Conservative Mennonite Church and was a member of Glade Mennonite Church for 58 years. He served as Sunday school teacher, youth leader, Trustee, janitor and was on many committees.

Though he could not talk for the last three months, he was a good, loving husband, father, grandfather and neighbor, and loved his Lord. He had a sense of humor right up to the end.

Lewis had several jobs. He worked as a Millwright for many years, was a truck mechanic, and worked with heavy equipment, however, his favorite was driving those 18-wheelers. He also was a member of Local 1024, Carpenters and Millwrights Union and was the neighborhood handyman and winter plowman.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the Glade Mennonite Church on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Earl Yoder, Pastor Oren Bender and Pastor Kevin Dodge officiating.  

Interment will be in the Glade Cemetery.
