— FROSTBURG — William Joseph Donahue Sr., 87, of Frostburg, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 24, 1926, in Center Line, Mich., he was raised by Hilda Delaney Martin. He is preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.

Bill was employed by the Celanese Corp. and Allegany College of Maryland. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, American Legion Farrady Post 24, Frostburg Moose and the Frostburg Eagles. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Bill enjoyed sports especially Allegany College of Maryland baseball.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lena (Steele) Donahue; a son, William J. Donahue Jr. and partner Charles Pierpont, of Sharpsburg; two daughters, Lisa D. Abe and husband Larry, of Frostburg and Leslie Johnson and husband Dave, of Annapolis; grandchildren, Ryan Michael Abe and fiancee Julie Maddox and Marc Patrick Abe and sister, Agnes Fisher, of Frostburg.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A. on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 24, 2013, in St. Michael's Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with Father Ed Hendricks as celebrant.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Abe, Marc Abe, Larry Abe, David Johnson, Chuck Pierpont and Steve Bazarnic.

American Legion Farrady Post 24 will accord military honors at the graveside.
