GRANTSVILLE — Roger Loy Durst, 68, of Grantsville, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born Jan. 16, 1945, in Meyersdale, Pa., he was the son of the late Edison and Lula (Bittinger) Durst. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Loy Durst II; one sister, Diane Durst; and four brothers, Neal, Wayne, Mitchell and Dick Durst.
Roger was a self-employed drywall mechanic and was a member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Wiley) Durst; one son, Clinton Loy Durst; one daughter, Roxanne Rae Platter and husband, Stanley William and three grandchildren, Tristan, Gabriel and Sadie Platter, all of Grantsville; three brothers, Dennis Durst, Hagerstown, Merle Durst, Meyersdale, Gary Durst, Jefferson; and three sisters, Donna House, Ravenna, Ohio, Judy Stanton, Accident, and Sondra Peck, Meyersdale.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Jennings Church of God with Pastor Ross Glotfelty officiating.
Interment will be in Grantsville Cemetery.
