— SPRINGFIELD, W.Va. — Dennis Charles Cotton, 66, of Springfield, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012.

Born March 8, 1946 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William List Cotton Jr. and Irma Mae (Abels) Cotton.

Mr. Cotton was retired from the Baltimore County Police Department, where he had served on the SWAT team.

He was a member of Baltimore County F.O.P., Lodge 4.

Dennis enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay. After retiring, he moved to Springfield, where he was president of the Raven Rocks Subdivision. He was a member of Gold Star Post 6452, V.F.W., Ridgeley, W.Va.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia (Griffith) Cotton; one daughter, Denise Bryant and husband Brad; three step-children, Michele Woodhouse, Danielle Fracalossi, and John Fracalossi; a granddaughter, Lydia Ruth Humes; two step-grandchildren, Alex and Cath-erine Woodhouse; three siblings, Donna Cotton, William “Bill” Cotton, and Gary Cotton; and other loving family members.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Fort Ashby, W.Va., is in charge of arrangements.
