CORRIGANVILLE — Henry Michael “Mick” Knieriem, III, 71, of Corriganville, passed away on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at his home after courageously fighting illness for 16 years.
Born Nov. 27, 1941, in Cumberland, Mr. Knieriem was the son of the late Henry Michael Knieriem, Jr., and Leola Mae (Chambers) Knieriem. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jean Mahew; an infant sister; son-in-law, Kenny Bennett, Jr.; and father-in-law, W. Earl Boyce.
A graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1960, Mick also attended Allegany Community College. He worked at the Kelly-Springfield Rubber and Tire Company for 24-1/2 years and retired from Cumberland Concrete. Mick was a life-time member of the Corriganville Volunteer Fire Department and the Western Maryland Street Rod Association. He was also a member of the Mount Carmel Lutheran Church, Meyersdale, Pa. Mick enjoyed working on cars. He coached both girl’s softball and the little league and pony leagues in baseball. Mick enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Mick is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Knieriem; his daughters, Sheila Leasure and husband, Mike, Carpendale, W.Va., Brenda Brewer and friend, Randy Harper, Lake Charles, La., Paula Winebrenner and husband, Steve, Mount Savage, and Susan Knieriem and friend, Rodney Wertz, Frostburg; and his son, Henry Michael “Mike” Knieriem, IV, and fiancée, Anita Hill, Cresaptown. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Wanda Boyce, Corriganville; his grandchildren, Jason and Theresa Leasure, Ben, Jon, and Pat Brewer, Sarah and Kyle Bennett, Austin Lease, Garret Winebrenner, Holly Knieriem, Josh Smith, and Sarah Decker and husband, Aaron; his great grandchildren, Yardley Decker, Kaydence Lenhart, and one great-grandchild due in Aug. 2013.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Glenn Foster officiating.
Interment will be in White Oak Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Wertz, Mike Leasure, Ricky Bonner, Steve Winebrenner, George Smith, Jr., and John-athan Logsdon.
