BOWLING GREEN — Charles Frederick Hill, 90, of Bowling Green, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, March 7, 2014.
Fred was born in Indiana, Pa. on March 1, 1924, the fourth son of Leila Katherine Keim and Robert Mitchell Hill.
The family relocated to Cumberland in 1936, where Fred lived the rest of his life.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Lou Triplett; his parents; brothers, Robert, John, and Bernard; and twin sister, Patricia Hill Burton Mulligan.
He is survived by one sister, Carole Hill (Norman) Barger; two daughters, Susan Katherine Winfield and Carole Ann (Kevin) Keplinger; five grandchildren, Jason and Corey Winfield and Joshua, Justin, and Kaitlyn Keplinger; four great-grandchildren; special friends, Savannah and Lisa Humbertson; a special caregiver, Sally Meyer; as well as, many nieces and nephews.
As a young man, Fred worked as an accountant at Little’s Jewelry Store and later at McIntyre Chevrolet. He continued this line of work well into his retirement years, for many small businesses in the area. He was kind and fun loving and especially enjoyed telling jokes. He was a longtime, active member of St Luke Lutheran Church. He will be missed.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., McMullen Highway, Cresaptown, on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 11 a.m. until noon.
A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at noon.
